Here's tip number one.
Take a breath. In fact, take four deep cleansing breaths. These breaths will reduce stress, make your body feel better and it will respond by slowing down, calming down, and shifting to a more resilient, agile, and resourceful place. As your brain gets more blood, your thoughts get clearer, you are expanding not just your diaphragm, and your stomach, and your lungs but your creativity and your options too.
Tip number two.
Schedule some you time on your calendar each day. Yes, you. 20 minutes on your calendar, just start with that and see what happens. For most of my clients, what happens is that their leadership increases, their patience and their interaction with their team is improved. And calendar tags are going to actually set up that quiet uninterrupted time for you that helps you fill your tank. If you think about the advice that your airline attendants give is that when you put the oxygen mask on, if you have a child, put it on yourself first and then the child. How many times in the workplace do we want to take care of everyone else first and take care of ourselves last? And then we are threadbare and we're not vital. So creating this time for yourself, will create that vitality and change the habit of wearing yourself down and instead knowing that vitality doesn't happen by accident. It happens because you're willing to change your habit and make time for you. And remember, you are your most important appointment of the day.
Tip number three and this is a fun one.
Find a mirror that you like, I had one with an Eiffel Tower on it in my office, put it right next to the door, to the left or right of the door wherever you're walking out the door. And when you have a meeting or you have something you're really looking forward to and you want to make sure you are at your best, take a moment, take a breath, look in the mirror and look into your eyes. Take that moment to give yourself your mantra. It might be I am loved, I am brilliant, I am a positive and impactful leader. Whatever your mantra is, say it to yourself, take another breath, and walk out that door authentically you and walk into the next meeting ready to shine. It's a way of connecting to your deeper self in the workplace and refilling yourself to go and be yourself fully with others.
